found this cool little site full of photos of stone circles, standing stones, barrows, and (for the people who were at a conference of the same name recently) cairns, and so, in the absence of any autumn leaves photos, here's a pic of merrivale standing stone in devon.
some of the history behind them is pretty odd - folklore about king arthur, other kings of england, stones going for drinks at the local pubs...
